Mrs. Wendy Mayfield
Instructor

Wendy Mayfield has trained in American Karate since 2001. She is a 2nd degree Black Belt Instructor at North Lakes Recreation Center in Denton and also teaches at other locations. She specializes in women's self-defense, competes on a regular basis, and has taught karate since 2003. She encourages all of her students to train hard and believes that everything is possible through practice and determination. Mrs. Mayfield is very dedicated and invests time on various karate projects behind the scenes to keep our program running smoothly.

Mrs. Mayfield moved with her family from California to Denton in 1995. She and her husband, Theron, have three children; Tristan, Kendra, and Emma - who also train in the karate program. Tristan obtained Junior Black Belt in 2004 and is an Assistant Instructor in class.

Wendy is a substitute teacher and volunteer for Denton ISD. Her education credentials include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in Museum Studies from California State University at Long Beach.

As a family, the Mayfields are active members of their church and also serve on various community projects. Our karate family benefits directly from their leadership skills and dedication to community education.
