Mr.
Ken Reaves
Instructor
Mr. Ken W. Reaves began his martial arts training in 2001. He is the Black Belt Head Instructor at Strickland Middle School in Denton and also trains at North Lakes Recreation Center.
Mr. Reaves has placed at every Red Tiger Karate tournament and is known for his creative weapons katas and competitive sparring abilities. He is very generous volunteering his time on special projects with our karate program. He also treats our students with his culinary skills at our Adult Weekend Training Camps.
He started training in
karate to support his son's involvement in the program. He enjoys teaching
both adult and juniors, but sees the benefits of his training personally as
well. "Every time I walk into the dojo on Friday nights, the week's rat-race-headaches
melt away. I come away from the evening classes
feeling refreshed and ready to deal with almost anything."
Mr. Reaves also says that karate has enhanced his calm determination in his business dealings. He is the owner of The Screen Shop of Denton and manufactures window screens and porch enclosures. His company also does window and glass replacements, focusing on customer satisfaction.
Ken's wife Jennifer is also very active in the program, running the Red Tiger Gear Store at various events. Mr. and Mrs. Reaves have two children; son Garrett and five year-old daughter Cailin. Mr. Reaves serves as a Den Leader in the Cub Scouts and his wife is a librarian for the Denton Public Library.
Our karate classes, training camps, and more importantly, our personal friendships would not be the same without Mr. Reaves.
